It’s heartening to see the creative and caring adaptations our communities, from the staff at restaurants to our public servants, are developing every day to try to return our society to more typical routines. For me, especially ones which contribute to protecting our environment. And so it pleases me to post announcements about the following recycling events:

Safer Styrofest

Saturday November 7, 2020

Accepted: Styrofoam™ coolers, packing blocks and clean takeout containers; plastic bags and overwrap, EPE Expanded Polyethylene Foam – go to www.kirklandwa.gov/styrofoam for a photo of accepted items. Must be clean, dry and unstained. Items must be sorted by material, not mixed. PLEASE separate white Styrofoam™ and EPE from color. PLEASE remove all tape and labels.

Not accepted: No hot tub covers, no dirty items, no packing peanuts

Batteries + Shredding

Saturday November 14
9:00AM – 1:00PM

Kirkland City Hall
123 Fifth Avenue
Kirkland, WA 98033

Accepted: Household alkaline batteries (AAAA, AAA, AA, C, D, 9v), button batteries and rechargeable batteries

Shredding: Clean paper – staples OK, but no binder clips. Limit of 4 file-sized boxes or paper grocery bags per vehicle.
