Blog

Welcome to my blog. You're going to find everything here: the book reviews I share on Amazon, the silliness I post to Facebook, whatever might pop into my head that comes out on paper, an education on organizing techniques, pointers to anything from a quiet spot to read a book in Edmonds, WA to worthwhile charitable recipients.

I'm giving myself permission to refuse to write every day - too much pressure!!! I'd never enjoy writing again, and I'd bet my audience would start making comparisons between me and a mosquito. I'm told I have a good sense of humor - I know I enjoy finding ways to laugh and to get other people to laugh. Don't take any of it too seriously, except of course the serious stuff. And, after all, everything is about our stuff.

Take a look. Browse a selection, make a few comments. Please accept my invitation to subscribe. If you have a topic for a post, or would like to be a guest, great! Talk to me.

If you subscribe to this blog, weekly updates will appear in your email box every Monday morning.

Cyndie Dantzscher, Personal Chef, Caterer and Founder of Savoury Thymes Catering isn’t just a Chef. A change in perspective

By Lauren Williams | May 19, 2017 | Comments Off on A change in perspective

I just pulled into my driveway, started getting ready for the transition from car to house. Took off my driving glasses, started gathering my things. Not ready to put on my “near” glasses. Saw something small and brown rushing across my driveway. Not a squirrel. Not a mole. Most definitely not a Mountain Beaver. Mouse?…

Painful Reality I Can’t Help Everyone

By Lauren Williams | May 8, 2017 | Comments Off on Painful Reality I Can’t Help Everyone

It’s a painful reality of my work that I can’t help everyone. More important, it’s unethical for me to help everyone – if I come to a project and I don’t have the skills, experience or resources to take on the job, I’m obligated by my professional society’s code of conduct to refer the potential…

OMIGOSH I HAD A FANTASTIC TIME ON SATURDAY NIGHT 4/29/2017. I had the great fortune to go see the 13th Annual Monroe Lip Sync performances  (here’s one fabulous act!) at the Wagner Performing Arts Center in Monroe. The Monroe Lip Sync is an organization that provides scholarships to Monroe Washington High School Seniors. Money raised through ticket…

Bridge, resting, Edgewood WA

By Lauren Williams | April 25, 2017 | Comments Off on Bridge, resting, Edgewood WA

This steel-truss bridge, at peace in a grassy field in Edgewood, WA was something I passed for several months on my way to and from a client. It has a venerable history, having been built in 1925 and only decommissioned in 2013 and brought to land in 2015. The Washington State Department of Transportation hopes to…

Interfaith Calendar, Sacred Events

By Lauren Williams | April 16, 2017 | Comments Off on Interfaith Calendar, Sacred Events

Mid-way through a month which holds sacred events for many of us, I was curious to see just how extensive that list of events might be. This interfaith calendar is compiled by the Pew Research Center, an extremely well-regarded think tank. This link gets you to the calendar. Peace to all of us, and the…

Rob Macauley, a Loan Officer with the Home Lending Division of 1st Security Bank is another of my BNI colleagues. I could never have understood that doing math, reviewing paperwork, and coaching people along about the process of buying a home, could be done with as much passion, grace, and good humor as Rob brings…
